DESCRIPTION

Scalp vein sets are designed to access a superficial vein, often on one’s hands, wrists, or scalp, (hence the name) for veni-puncture, or an injection into your vein (a phlebotomy). They consist of two soft, flexible bilateral “wings”, a hypodermic needle that is designed to create minimal tissue damage, flexible transparent tubing and a connector, which one attaches to another device, such as a syringe, vacuum tube or extension tube from an infusion pump or IV drip bag, etc. AccuPoint scalp vein sets are designed specifically to provide rapid venous access to ensure a higher level of patient comfort during the infusion process.

BENEFITS OF SCALP VEIN SETS

Comes with really sharp needles to minimize tissue damage and reduce the chance of infection.

Available in four varieties to meet your various needs.

Pre-sterilized and are thus ready-to-use straight out of the bag.

Very easy to handle and comes with protective caps to cover the needle so as to minimize the chances of spreading blood-borne diseases.

Designed only for a single use and are thus easily disposable.

USAGE

To start the veni-puncture process, grasp the butterfly wings firmly between your thumb and index finger, making sure your grip is very close to the needle. This ensures precise needle placement before puncturing the skin. The set’s design makes it possible to insert the needle toward the vein at a shallow angle, which is ideal. When the needle enters the vein, expect for a small amount of blood to enter into the set's transparent tubing. This is a direct response to the release of pressure the veins experience when they are punctured and is simply a visible signal of a successful venous entry. Slowly release the plunger and carefully remove the needle to ensure comfort during the infusion process.

FAQS

Can I reuse my scalp vein set?
No. Like all medical products that come with needles, scalp vein sets are designed exclusively for a single use. Reusing needles increases the risk of transferring and/or contracting blood-borne illnesses such as HIV, AIDs and Hepatitis.
What should I do if the packaging is damaged?
If the packaging is damaged, do not use the scalp vein set! As they are pre-sterilized, breaking the seal of the packaging compromises this process.
What is the best place to inject myself with my scalp vein set?
Generally hands, wrists and the scalp are the best options as they offer superficial veins that allow for easy access in the injection process.
