USAGE

• Wash hands thoroughly and shake formula containers well before opening;
• Sit or lie with the patient's head elevated at least 30 degrees (about the height of two pillows) and remain in this position for 30 to 60 minutes after each feeding to help prevent nausea or reflux and fill the syringe with formula and attach to the feeding tube;
• Release feeding tube to allow formula to flow;
• Raise or lower height of syringe to increase or decrease flow feeding rate.

TYPES OF ENTERAL FEEDING SET

Type 1: Gravity A way to deliver formula through your feeding tube. With this feeding method, formula flows out of a bag and into your tube by gravity. This method is slower than feeding with a syringe and uses a roller clamp on the bag's tubing to control the rate.

Type 1: Pump System Used when a tube feeding needs to be administered slowly over an extended period of time. Usually when the patient cannot tolerate gravity-fed boluses administered via syringe.
